and more precisely of Hadramout. The region of Oman was known in Sumerian times as Magan.<\/p><p>In antiquity, the peninsula became a major producer of incense, and it maintained an important commercial activity with Mesopotamia, Egypt, Persia, India and the island of Dilmun.
